The purpose of this recreational programme is to provide opportunities for pupils to learn new skills or develop existing ones with a resultant improvement in self-confidence and self-esteem. It also allows for the development of group social skills. Some of the activities take the form of a club which runs for a fixed period on a set day and time each week. This develops a degree of commitment in children, whilst allowing pupils the opportunity to experience a range of activities from those on offer. Other fixed events which take place each year cover: Charity Events, Project Weeks, Sports Experience Days, Beach Schools, Year Group Residential Camps. Team Challenge Days, Activity Days. Children are also encouraged to suggest ideas for the school’s social activity programme.
