Our student council ensures that our pupils have a voice and are heard when decision making in the school.
Classes work together with the teacher to establish rules and routines that promote the highest expectations.
Pupils are encouraged to reflect on their daily lessons, through conversations and self assessment.
Pupils are always listened to by adults and are taught to listen carefully and with concern to each other, respecting the right of every individual to have their opinions and voices heard.

Class rules and expectations are established which link with the whole school expectations.
Links are established with our local policing team and utilised to understand wider discussions about the laws in England.
Weekly school meetings focus on whole school expectations and the rules and routines of the school.
Consequences are fair, balanced and natural when needed and pupils are taught that actions have consequences both positive and negative.

Our pupils are given choices in their activities throughout the day and this is widened as they move through the privilege levels.
Our pupils take part in three liaison meetings throughout the year where they are encouraged to talk about their individual social programmes (ISPs).
Our PSHE curriculum encourages pupils to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms and are taught how to exercise these safely.
Pupils are encouraged to explore ‘roots and fruits’ when thinking about their individual behaviour. This allows pupils to think about making individual choices.

We use Thrive therapeutic practices and approaches as a whole school.
We encourage pupils to play with their peers and recognise that we treat others how we would want to be treated. Adults within this time continually scaffold conversations and emotional literacy.
Our displays are reflective of the emotional learning that we endeavour to support and teach our pupils about.
The team around the pupil actively explores mutual respect with pupils and their peers and explicitly plans for opportunities for respect to be taught and practised.

We regularly update our diversity board which celebrates differences and similarities.
Our RE teaching celebrates different faiths and cultures.
Tutorials are an important time to encourage discussion and listen to others viewpoints in a structured and scaffolded way.
